We have been working hard behind the scenes to give our website a well deserved update. A spring cleaning, so to speak. Dusting off the cobwebs, fluffing the pillows, and opening the windows for fresh air. For those of you who have worked on creating a website, you will understand how lengthy the process can feel at times – that never ending task list that seems to only grow longer. What I’ve realized from this process, however, is how much baking for others brings me utter joy.
I sift through the gallery of pictures taken by this incredible person, and cannot help but smile. Why? Because each image represents a moment of joy that I am quietly invited to share with those who purchase our products. I imagine our cupcakes sitting on your counter at home, being placed on a platter for a celebration, and all of the intricate work that we put into making the caramel, making the buttercream, baking the cupcakes and decorating each one by hand. I think about when you remove the ribbon and the twist tie from a bag of cranberry orange biscotti, and the fruity citrus scent that is released when you open the bag. I can almost hear the groans as you break off a piece of one of our decadent brownies and take a bite. You may want to share. You may not. I support whatever you opt to do.
There will always be to-do lists, ingredients to purchase, packaging to figure out, customers to contact and projects requiring attention. It’s easy to fall into a sense of overwhelm and lose sight of what really matters. When I focus on the joy, it makes everything easier, richer, and more fulfilling.
What fills you with joy? I would love to hear about it.
